Tarquin the Proud
Today we throughly went through the lyrics to Rome by Chi Cago in a power point explaining each line of the song. We mainly focused on the last Roman king named Tarquin who was a horrible tyrant to his people. His people kicked him out after he got his son out of trouble wiht the law for a very harsh crime. His son raped a high respected matron who killed herself soon after the rape. The Roman people thought that if they kicked Tarquin out that they wouldn't have to deal with his son as the future king. This was the end of the main Roman monarchy. The government then combined into three different types of government including Democracy, Aristocracy, and some Monarchy. Then Mr Schick talked about how the plebeians and patricians relate to our world today. The rich people get more tax breaks than the poor because they threaten to take their businesses else where if they don't get a break. It was like this in Rome back then as well. We will continue to analyze the lyrics tomorrow in the power point.
